Saturday Morning Sunrise, "Moonset", Bike-ride, Train.... #coloradobikes #mountainbikes

So...had a "great idea" when I woke up this morning! ~ "I'll ride my bike to the Club meeting!"
I attend a community service club meeting early every Saturday - about 14 miles North from where I live. The forecast predicted sunshine and little wind - "...perfect day for a bike ride!"
Well, first of all it was very cold before sunrise... about 12 minutes in, I knew that I hadn't dressed even close to warmly enough. Even with riding gloves, my thumbs started getting numb. But, "no turning back...!"
-was greeted with a rather spectacular simultaneous sunrise and "moonset". -tried to snap a shot w/my phone, but, didn't look near as good as this stock photo... It really did look just like this...that was definitely worth some "chill." And, then the sunrise...
-feeling encouraged and inspired now! and warming up a bit... then onto the Sante Fe Trail... muscles loosening up... starting to make good time!~
-steady climb up "Monument Hill" which is about 1,000 feet higher than the Springs...and, even a bit colder...thighs burning and lungs on fire..."why am I doing this? what was I thinking?!"
...finally got in a good rhthym, rockin'-listening to good tunes... but breathing hard on the grade made me cough a bit...ok, it was more than bit...actually, was hacking like a "two-pack-a-day-Camels- smoker"!...
...phew, puff puff... hit a stretch where it was somewhat level...looked at my watch to check the time...whoa!~ hit a rock, front wheel whipped hard... almost wiped out... what a goob!~... no worries...still kinda dark - no one saw me : ) ...
Finally, the final stretch! ...about 5 miles to go!~ and, it is beautiful out now!
Hit the high gears and pumping it... coughing a lot less...
...almost there... stopped questioning my "idea"...saw some runners and other bikers on the trail... there's Palmer Lake-there's the Inn!... I can see it over the next ridge... made it- w/4 minutes to spare! ...wait!!! ... there's a train~ no way!!!...
....Aaarrrgghh!~ (well, that's kinda : ) what I muttered... )
...on the "wrong side of the tracks!"... it's a long, long coal train...
...oh, well...
...some time to catch my breath... about 6 minutes late for my meeting...but, awesome ride!~ and, all downhill going home...

HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND!~

As an author/speaker/publisher, you can have one of the best, most comprehensive, helpful info-packed author/speaker sites out there... and, there are some impressive designers who have created some amazing sites!~ but, if not enough people are finding it... to see how wonderful it is...and, to experience you as an author/speaker/publisher...
Itz a bit like a having great restaurant, with the best menu & food in town, that no one can find... in other words, the web is wonderful because everyone can participate...the downside is that everyone can participate... the trick is in how one creates the "sales funnel"? - that is directing traffic to you...

"Old style publicity" as a stand alone strategy is getting weaker every day. It is expensive, not easily accessible, and is hard to measure for ROI. Enlighted publicity and marketing strategies now integrate targeted social media strategies into the mix. That includes utilizing feature "directory sites" like filedby to help create a "sales funnel" - so that you, your site, and your unique work can be found. It can also serve as a stand-alone presence on the web.

So, the good news author/publisher focused directory sites like filedby can help to create "highways" to finding wonderful author/speakers like you!~

How do I use Filedby?
re new category feature: Browse By Subject | FiledBy
“We... provide tools that authors and their creative partners [can] use easily to collect and present authoritative information about themselves and focus on their overall social marketing efforts. To accomplish this, we had to first organize a vast amount of information around the people who create books, rather than simply display the books themselves. Now that information is also available through our category websites.” -Peter Clifton-co-founder, CEO- FiledBy

Services | Marketing Services: Author websites, video production, social marketing, header graphics, domain names & more
I have found filedby to be a wonderful resource for helping clients to gain visibility and "traction" in the marketplace.

H/T Grow Great Tomatoes... H/T "Grow" Great Books! #books #authors #writers

The tomato (Solanum lycopersicum) is a herbaceous, usually sprawling plant in the nightshade family that is typically cultivated for its edible fruit. Savory in flavor (and accordingly termed a vegetable; see below), the fruit of most varieties ripens to a distinctive red color. -Tomato - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
So, when is tomato not a tomato?
Well according to the definition above... a tomato is by definition a "tomato." A tomato is only "not a tomato", when it's something else... like a "potato" perhaps...

How does one grow grow a great tomato?
"There are three keys to success in growing tomatoes in a container: tomato variety, planting, and ongoing care. Pay attention to these three keys, and you'll be in tomato heaven in no time."
There are certainly many ways to grow and produce tomatoes and quite a variety of tomatoes themselves. Consumers have different "favorites and taste preferences and uses" for the many and broad diversity of varieties... And, certainly "production" results vary broadly... that is as to the quality of the resulting  tomatoes that will be produced... for goodness sake, even the pronunciation of "tomato" varies: toe - may- toe or toe-maw-toe, etc.

But, at the end of the day, a tomato is indeed a tomato.

So, what do "tomatoes" have to do with publishing and books?

Well, everything actually!~ Seems that everyone has an opinion these days as to defining "what is a book"? -and, regarding what makes a good one... Well, as the article quoted above suggests in relation to growing great tomatoes, producing a great book requires similar principles!:
  1. variety: genre, uniqueness of message, method of access to intended audience
  2. planting: well developed strategic business plan for each project, compelling design & layout, careful attention to selection of topic, creation of quality content (including enlistment of the help of expert editing/writing coach, etc), method of production/way that reader will experience your writing/content, author platform development, marketing & distribution
  3. ongoing care: nurturing your platform and ongoing engagement with "your tribe" of readers, improvement of the work in succeeding editions, creation of different product options & ancillary products
Whether you seek to be "traditionally published", publish independently, professionally self-publish, utilize a "subsidy press", or use one of the many DIY (do-it-yourself) options that are available today... the best results will be always be found in careful attention to following best practices and with the ultimate objective in mind - sharing your unique message with those most likely to benefit from it and enjoy it... in the form of your published book!~

Please share your favorite book cultivation methods and book "recipes"...
